Anna Jarota
Founder and Managing Director
Anna grew up in Poland and earned degrees in English Philology and Psychology from the University of Łódź. She left Poland for Paris, where she began working as a bookseller. A few years later, she moved to London and worked as an agent at Andrew Nurnberg Associates, followed by a role as Foreign Rights Director at XO Editions. She settled permanently in Paris, where she founded AJA in 2008.
Megan Husain
Foreign Rights Director
Megan joined AJA in November 2020. Originally from London, she holds a Bachelor's degree in English and French literature from the University of Oxford and a Master's in Comparative Literature from the University of Amsterdam. She previously worked at Maria B. Campbell Associates in London, at Éditions Robert Laffont in Paris, and at Actes Sud in Arles. She has a particular interest in intelligent narrative non-fiction and literary and speculative genre fiction.
Sarah Dray
Literary Agent
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Modern Literature from the Sorbonne and an MA from Oxford Brookes University, Sarah worked in the editorial departments of several divisions at Hachette Livre. She then moved to the other side of the publishing chain and joined AJA in September 2022. A passionate reader of speculative fiction, she has a particular love for fantasy but always makes time for a well-written romance.
Nina Court
Foreign Rights Executive
After earning a dual degree in French Law and Common Law from Paris-Nanterre University, Nina decided to complement her legal education with studies in publishing and literature at the University of Strasbourg. Following an internship at a Parisian publishing house, she joined AJA in February 2023 and later became Rights Executive. An avid reader of all kinds, Nina loves essays and critical non-fiction works on social sciences, politics, economics, and feminism.
Violaine Chivot
Après des études de lettres et d’italien, Violaine fait ses premiers pas dans le monde du livre (Calmann-Lévy, rue fromentin) avant de devenir éditrice chez JC Lattès-Le Masque, où elle travaillera plus de dix ans en fiction (romans noirs français et étrangers) et en non-fiction. Elle se lance en indépendante en 2024 et accompagne des auteur·ices aux projets sensibles et engagés. Elle rejoint AJA en 2026 en tant qu’agente littéraire, animée par la volonté de représenter des voix singulières qui interrogent les normes, les marges, s’intéressent à notre monde, à ses mystères, à ses dérives politiques, à ses faiblesses judiciaires mais aussi à ses progrès et à son humanité.
